I MISS MY FAT BLANKET!


Holy Moly!  Fall has come and it's freezing here in Michigan.  I have always wore my shorts and t-shirts until mid November.  I would just wear a fleece jacket through out the winter.  The cold never bothered me before.  Things have changed.  Here it is only September and I've packed away all my summer clothes and am wearing sweatshirts & jackets already.  I bought some gloves already, for my early morning jogs & bike rides.  I learned the hard way last week that I need gloves.  I thought my fingers were going to freeze and fall off last week when I went for a bike ride.  I had to cut my ride very short.  I went out last week and bought a new jacket and a new winter coat.  I think I might be ready for when winter hits now.
The only thing I miss about being fat, is my blanket of fat around me to keep me warm.  I aways just thought the cold never bothered me.  I was partially right, but it was just because I had all that unhealthy fat keeping me warm.  Even though I hate being cold, I'll gladly take being thinner any day.  I'll even get some long johns if needed to get me through a Michigan winter.

READY FOR BATTLE!


I am having such a hard time staying on track.  I'm not gaining any weight, but I'm also not losing any.  I wish I could blame it on a plateau.  I seem to be eating a lot more snacks & sweets lately.  Well, today I am ready for battle!   I will fight to eat what is healthier for me.  Today I will attempt to stay away from anything that contains sugar in it.  No, I WILL STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING WITH SUGAR IN IT!!  Why does that scare me?   I'm stronger than my desire to eats sweets.  If I ever want to get below the 160 mark than I've have to make better choices.  It's so simple and yet so hard.  It seems like every weekend I have something and some excuse as to why I'm eating like I'm a skinny person.  This weekend we are going to Frankenmuth.  I have no problems with "Bronners".  Not much to eat there,  just lots of Christmas things to spend our hard earned money on.  We are going to eat at "Bavarian Inn".   This place has the most amazing chicken.  I already have a plan on what I'm going to eat.  I find if I make a plan and write down what I'm going to eat ahead of time, it helps.   I've already logged into "Livestrong" and put my chicken cordon bleu dinner that I plan on eating and I've set my alarm early to get my exercise in before we take off.  The problem is Raus Country Store.  It has all the candy that I loved as a kid.  I may just sit outside of the store while the family goes in.  That way there is no temptation.  I probably should stay out of all the fudge shops & bakeries while i'm at it.   Now Birch Run Outlets, is another story.  I can shop there all day and not have to worry about junk food calling out to me. So before I head out tomorrow, I will put on my suit of armor and fight the good fight!!




Today's Recipe: "Turkey Cucumber Wrap"   I love this wrap.  Very filling and yet only 215 calories.

SPEED MAKES YOU MOODY

 You may or may not know that cycling is my new found love.  I try to go 3 or 4 times a week and try to get in at least 20 miles on each ride.  It is an exercise that is easy on my body.  When I'm on the bike trail enjoying God's beauty, I pass many many people.  It is my nature to smile & nod or say "Hi" to all those who I pass.  I have begun to notice something over the months.  Most of the people I pass return the nod, smile or greeting, only a few do not.  The ones that do not are what I call "speed racers".  Even if they see me nod or hear me say "Hello", they ignore me.  I try hard to not take this to heart.  I try hard not to have them ruin my day.  I try hard not to cry.  I'm pretty sure it's not really directed at me personally.  Okay everyone, I'm just kidding.
I have decided there could be a couple reasons why they don't acknowledge me.
1st thought, speed makes you moody (and here you thought I was talking about drugs).  It's hard work to go that fast.
2nd thought, they are really concentrating on their ride, and are almost oblivious to everyone else on the trail.
I will still go out for my rides, even if no one smiles at me.  I think you should get your bike out today and take it for a spin.  If I see you, I promise to nod, smile and say 'hello'.

Tubby & Tubing Don't Mix

I have always loved to go tubing.  Down a river, around a lazy river or behind a boat, it's all fun to me.  The problem always was,  how to get in the tube gracefully.  News Flash! When you are 100 pounds overweight, there is no graceful way to get into a tube.  I would have to get on the tube from a side of a deck, off from steps and have someone holding onto the tube.  Not only that but, once I was on the tube, it's not a pretty sight either.  I pretty sure I looked like a beach whale.  What I realized this summer after losing so much weight, was I can actually jump.  I can now, jump up on the tube all by myself.  No more do I need a team of helpers to hold my tube still, while I try to slide my body onto the tube.  Even though I still have 20 plus pounds to lose, I no longer resemble a whale.  It's more like a tubby seal.  You may wonder why in the world I'm blogging about such a silly little thing?  It's all the little accomplishments that keep me going.  I look forward to trying new things now.  Things that I had all but given up trying, because I either couldn't do it, or I felt funny being so fat doing it.  Who knows maybe next summer I'll even try to water ski.
