YO-YOING

The month of August has been my worst month yet.  I exercised like crazy, but also ate to many things I shouldn't have.  I think if it wasn't for the exercising I would have put 15 pounds on.   This entire month has been loose 4 pounds, gain 4 pounds.  I was hoping that I would be below the 160 mark by the time September rolled around, but because of my lack of self-control "I'm Not"!!!  This is the first time I haven't hit my 5 pound a month goal!!  Not only did I not hit my goal, but I gained a few ounces!  To top it off  it's Labor Day weekend.  This is normally a weekend end of friends, family & food!  We have a thing called the "Peach Festival" here in our little town.   I've been going to it since 1963 and have no plans of stopping.  This year I'm trying to be good.  No 'elephant ears', no 'pop', no 'cinnamon sugar almonds', no 'cotton candy', no carnival fries, no nachos and so on and so forth.  I will allow myself my 'Italian Sausage' with grilled onions & peppers that I get every year and I may have a peach donut, but that's it.  Then on Tuesday when I get back to a normal life, I must do better with my food choices.   I have found that just about the time I think I've got this eating healthy and making healthy choices thing licked, I fall off the wagon.  I sure hope September is better than August was.  I am really going to be ticked with my self if I don't get below that 160 mark.

EXERCISE BEAST!

I don't know what it is about camping that brings the exercise beast out in me, but it does.   This person here who wouldn't walk down our street a few months back, is exercising 3 to 4 hours a day when I'm camping.   I know, I can't believe it either.   I will either jog or 40 minutes or walk for 90.   I then do 1 hour of laps in the pool followed up by 1 hour of water aerobics.  I then will ride my bike for an hour or two.  I think it's for a couple reasons.  First I'm not home, with things that has to been done.  Second, I don't have a pool and I love to take advantage of it.   Today I'm going to try to tennis to my workout.   I love that I'm free to exercise as much as I feel like it.  I'm really scared for fall to come when I get back into my babysitting routine.   I'm going to have to make myself get up extra early so I can get my exercise in.   I find that by the end of the day, I'm to tired and find excuses not to exercise.  I also think for the first time in about 30 years that I'll join a gym for the winter months.

I HAVE LOST MY MIND!!

Somewhere durning this weight loss adventure l have loss my mind.   You might think I'm exaggerating, but let me assure you I haven't.  Yesterday I thought it would be a great idea to see how far it would to ride my bike through some local bike trails.  There are three bike trails that connect together.  This will allow you to ride through Lake Orion, Rochester Hills, Rochester, Shelby, Washington, Romeo, Ray, Armada & Richmond.   What I discovered (thanks to my trusty pedometer app) was that it is about a 35 1/2 mile ride.   35 1/2 miles doesn't sound to to bad.  The problem was, I had to make the trip back.   That's right, rode my bike for 72 miles (the extra mile is due to my house being a half mile away from the bike trail).  To say I was beat would be putting it mildly.  I could have had my husband pick me up if I needed him to, but I got to the point where I had to prove to myself that I could do it.

Seeing these two beautiful dear along the ride, made it almost worth it.
