YIPPEE, YIPPEE, I HIT FIFTY!!

It's true, I have FINALLY hit the half way mark.   50 pounds not only sounds so good, but it feels wonderful.  I lost it much quicker then I expected to.   I am about 7 months ahead of schedule.   I think it's because of all the activity I've been doing plus eating healthy.  Some days have been a breeze, but many have not.  The hardest habit that I'm trying to break is the snacking when I'm not  hungry.

The following pictures are still not pretty, but not as scary as the first set I did.  The next set will come when I lose another 50 pounds.   I really didn't notice the weight loss when I looked in the mirror.   It was my clothes that told the real story.  They were falling off of me.  When I put the pictures side by side, then I can tell the difference.  This makes me smile.

This is my first set, "I'm fat but I can hide it pictures".  Before and after losing 50 pounds.

This is my "buy a bathing suit that covers as much fat as possible" and is "basically black to hide some of the fat" pictures.  Before & after losing 50 pounds.

The next set of pictures are down right scary!  Even though I'm covered up very well, it truly shows how heavy I really am.  Remember you have been warned.  Before and after losing 50 pounds.

WADDLE LIKE A DUCK

I will be so happy when I get to the point where my theme song isn't, "Wibble wobble, wobble wobble to and fro."  Try as I might, I still wobble when walk.  Granted it's not big as a wobble as it was 46 pounds ago, but it's still there.  This got me to wondering what makes a fat person wobble?  I couldn't find a reason when I checked the internet.   Most said it was because their thighs rubbed together and become chafe.   This has never happened to me, so that is not the reason.  Anybody out there have any ideas?  Now my next question is how many more pounds do I need to lose before I walk normal?   Maybe it's a habit now, and I'll always walk like a duck.

Today's Recipe: "Grilled Veggies"  Super simple to make and very good.

SLOW AS A TURTLE

My daughter Tonia & I went for our first bike ride of the season.  I have never rode my bicycle more than a mile in my adult life.  One of my goals this year is to ride our local bike path from my house to Richmond and back.  That is about a 30 mile trip.   We ended up riding our bikes about 9 miles.  It was a lot more work than I thought it was going to be.   I was fine the first 6 miles, after that it was a struggle.  I would have no problem if it was a straight shot, with no hills and no wind resistance.  But, that was not the case!!!  I'm hoping to get back on the trails in a day or two.  I did notice one thing while I was riding my bike.   Everyone and their brother passed me up.  It was about half way through the trip that I realized, "I'm slow"!!  I hope to get faster at it, but if not, it's okay.  I'm looking forward to the day when I can make it all the may to Richmond.   I'll even be more excited when I can go there and back.
B.T.W., I am going to have to get a more comfortable seat & some biker shorts, before I start my trip to Richmond.

Todays Recipe: "Kicking Sweet Potato Fries".  I'm not a fan of sweet potatoes, but my daughter loves these.

I CAN TASTE IT ON MY TONGUE!

I'm am so close to my half way mark that I can taste it on my tongue.  I can hardly wait.  This last week I went through my closet and dresser drawers to get rid of the clothes that no longer fit me.   Guess What?   I have no clothes left.  I went to Kohl's and picked up a few things, to get me by for another month or so.   I don't want to buy jeans or to many winter clothes because summer is so close.  Come April I'll go out shopping for summer clothes in the petite section mind you.

A CHANGE OF PACE

It is getting warmer out everyday.  If fact it's unseasonably warm for March in Michigan.   I have been out jogging & walking almost everyday this winter.  I've only had to use the treadmill a few times.  Today it's been raining most of the day and I really don't want to walk on the treadmill.  I have decided that I would go up to the high school and swim laps for an hour.  I checked out my app Lose It, to see how many calories I could burn doing 1 hour of  moderate freestyle swimming.  I was pleasantly pleased to find out that I could burn 571 calories.   571 calories burned doing something that I love to do.   This is a win win situation.  Tomorrow I will be back to jogging.  Maybe I'll leave Monday's open for swimming, just for a change of pace.

Recipe for the day: "Zucchini Grinders"  Lower the cheese amount on this sandwich and it will stay well within your allotted intake of calories.

THE SPIRIT IS WILLING BUT THE BODY IS WEAK!

I had a friend of mine ask me the other day, "what is it about walking, jogging & running that I love"?  That is a really hard question for me to answer.  I do love walking and enjoying seeing God's beauty around me, but to be honest, I can't say that I have the same love for jogging & running.  At this point I just have to make myself do it.   There is a verse in the bible that says "The spirit is willing, but the body is weak (Mark 14:38)".   Boy does that fit me to a tee, when it comes to eating & exercise.  I desire to eat well & exercise, but is a daily battle with me. I make myself exercise 6 days a week, only taking off Sundays.  There are days when I can think of all kinds of excuses (most acceptable) why I shouldn't exercise that day.  I have to force myself to get up off my gluteus-maximus and get moving.  Once I'm out walking, then I need to force myself to jog or run.  I love that I am strong enough to not give into my laziness.  It feels so good, when I win the battle with my body.  One day I hope that it won't be a battle, and that I will not only love to exercise but desire to do it too.

Recipe for today: "French Baked Potatoes"  I love the crispy bottom to these potatoes.

MEASURING UP PART II

It's March 1st, time to see the results of this last month.  I always get so nervous when I measure myself.  I never expect to see any change, even though I see my daily weight loss.   When I look in the mirror, I really don't see much of a difference.  Although my clothes tell me a different story.   They all hang on me.  I found a box of clothes downstairs that were labeled small clothes.   I decided to try them on.  Much to my delight  most of them fit and some are a little loose.  I have gone from a size 2X tops to a size large.  From a size 24 in jeans/pants down to a size 18.  I do not want to buy any new clothes until summer. Then It will be shorts & tank tops.  Hopefully I won't be quite so upset when I have to buy a new bathing suit.  Maybe, just maybe by fall it will be time to shop for the new thinner me clothes.
*I have sorta of stopped using the "Pink Method" this past week. I am doing a cross between the "Pink Method" & "Weight Watchers".  I'm calling it "Pink Watchers".  :-)

I have decided to start putting a link to my cooking blog for recipes that are "healthy".  Most are under 355 calories.
Todays Recipe: "Homemade Applesauce" is better than anything you can buy in the store.
