My husband and I took my great-niece & great-nephew up to Frankenmuth yesterday. We took them to Bronner's the "World's Largest Christmas Store". Then we went to town and ate at the 'Bavarian Inn'. If you are from Michigan, you know that Frankenmuth is known for their fantastic chicken dinners. I would love to tells you that I was strong and stayed on my diet, but that would be a complete and utter lie. First of all I made a big breakfast before we even left. You have to realize that I haven't seen my great nieces & nephews for 7 years (when my sister their grandmother passed away). I love to cook and cooking is what I've been doing for them for the last 3 days. I digressed, back to the story. I made them homemade buttermilk pancakes, homemade strawberry syrup, homemade hash browns, sausage & scrambled eggs. Yes, I did have one pancake, two sausages & 1/2 cup of scrambled eggs. I did pass on the hash browns, but not the homemade strawberry syrup.
After breakfast we headed out for our day of fun. We toured Bronner's and then went to the town of Frankenmuth. When we got hungry we went to the Bavarian Inn to eat. I ended up eating their 'chicken cordon bleu' dinner, Yummy! I even had fries with it. Now as though that wasn't a big enough cheat; they gave us free homemade ice cream because they were a little slow. Once again, I would love to say that I passed on that wonderful orange/vanilla swirl ice cream, but that also would be a lie. When we were done eating, we finished our tour of the town. Did I tell you that we stopped by the old-fashion candy store? Well we did, and YES I did have some candy. Even though I doesn't show it on here (because I haven't blogged for a week), I did gain 2 pounds. When or when will I learn? Outside of the slow stroll to check out the shops in town and walking around Bronner's, I did not get any exercise.
You know I'm finding out that eating bad and not exercising seem to go hand and hand when it comes to me.
I am happy to report that I did get up early this morning and got a 4 mile jog in, and ate a healthy breakfast.
