I jogged my first 5k today. I've done it around the neighborhood before, but I have not entered a 5k race before. It was harder than I thought. I normally run on level ground, paved streets and not in 90 degree weather. Today the 5k that I entered had lots of hills, was gravel and it was over 90 degrees out. I never knew that I could sweat that much. A few times, I honestly thought I wouldn't be able to jog up one more hill, but I did. I would not allow myself to walk at anytime and quitting was not an option. It was not a pretty time, but I'm still thrilled that not only did I jog my first 5k, but I finished it. My time was 42.52. Maybe when I enter my next 5k, I can run it or at least shorten the time up. This by the way, was another one of my goals set for this year that I was able to accomplish. What I'm started to notice, is that I no longer say "if" I can do something but "when". Looking forward to my next goal of riding my bike from my house to Richmond and back, a 35 mile trip.
